[Site Updates] Breakfast in the Ruins interviews Stormbringerrpg.com

I had the great pleasure of being interviewed by Andy, from the Breakfast in the Ruins podcast recently. In an amazing bit of synchronicity, we had been discussing catching up for a while prior to all the recent announcements on roleplaying in the Young Kingdoms, so as luck would have it we got to chat about our thoughts on this news as well.

I apologies in advance for my own rambling, as I seem to all over the place in the interview. Nevertheless, I hope it gives you all some insight into why and how stormbringerrpg.com came about (spoiler – I just thought it’d be fun and I have these mad moments :P).

You can hear the interview here – https://breakfastintheruins.com/2026/05/11/stormbringer-rpg-dot-com-mmrpgs-x/ – but I heartily encourage you to listen to each and every episode of BitR. Andy and co are always insightful and thought provoking in their analysis and commentary of Michael Moorcock’s substantial body of work, and such podcasts are real gens these days!

Rolling in the Ruins 2026 Convention

The team over at the Breakfast in the Ruins podcast are organising a mini roleplaying convention to be held at the function room of the Ginger Goose bar in Bradford. The con’s dates are the 6th & 20th of June and will be hosting good old fashioned Moorcock-flavoured roleplaying for systems old and new.

Player registration will be handled via Warhorn and a convention website and Discord channel is coming soon!

The Great Site Clean-up of 2026

“Everything may exist for a while – even justice. But the true state of the universe is anarchy. It is the mortal’s tragedy that he can never accept this.”
― Michael Moorcock, The Knight of the Swords

You might not realise it, but this site has been using the same WordPress template since the mid-2010s. Sure, I’ve tinkered with the design (that header image has changed more times than I care to remember) and the style sheets, but the underlying code has barely changed1. That said, I love this old style, and it’s gonna take a lot of time and effort to move away from it.

In the meantime, I’ve started the process of cleaning up behind the scenes and plan to move hosting services later in the year. That all means that things might start to look a little strange at some point (as I squeeze in a few code changes in the evenings and weekends), so, if you do see something not working or discover a dead link, do feel free to reach out to me via our contact page (or my site email address).

And although we’ve lost the most recent publisher of Eternal Champion goodness (so long Département des Sombres Projets), here’s to many more years of supporting the games of the Eternal Champion.

Blood and Souls for Arioch!

  1. Don’t worry, I keep the security up to date and make sure I maintain a strong walled garden – so any hackers reading this, don’t think you’re in for an easy time of it!

Site Update & Plans for 2021

It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to devote too much time to Stormbringerrpg.com and I thought it might be worth putting together bit of a brief update.

Before I start, I should say, that I’m always on the look out for more content for this site, be it articles (on any Stormbringer subject – its history, settings or game trivia), adventures (for any Eternal Champion edition/ruleset) or interviews. So, if you’ve got anything you’d like to submit or know of someone who was/is involved in the past 40 years of Eternal Champion gaming, do drop me a line!

Right, moving on, I have a lot of things in various stages of draft and layout for the site, and I hope they’ll all see their way through to completion over the next year or so. However, there’s no guarantee all of them will finally be ‘published’.

In no particular order –

  • Infinite Porticos, a short adventure written for Stormbringer 5th edition and designed to bring a new party of characters together.
  • Offerings to the Sea (working title), an short 5th edition scenario setting the party on a collision course into Chaos.
  • Interview with Gareth Ryder-Hanrahan on the production and release of Mongoose’s Hawkmoon RPG.
  • Review of Mongoose’s Hawkmoon.
  • Shadows of Kamarg, a short adventure set just before the events of The Jewel in the Skull.
  • Review of The Fang and the Fountain, by Richard Watts, Stolen Moments, by Nick Hagger, and The Man Who Sold Gods, by Geoff Gillan all from Perils of the Young Kingdoms.
  • Conversions of Rogue Mistress from 4th edition Stormbringer to 5th Edition.
  • A rules update for a fan version of Stormbringer 5.5 Edition.

Beyond those, I’ve ideas or notes for:

  • A review of Straits of Chaos
  • A scenario based in Jharkor

Site Update 2017

Hi All,

Just a note to say that there has been a bit of a tidy-up on the site, including a new website template (called ‘Lovecraft’ after one of my favourite authors, nonetheless!). This has also meant cleaning up some of the background code that was a result of formatting for the old template, and I’m sure, especially in the older posts, etc. that I’ve not caught it all.

In regards to new content, there isn’t much on the horizon at moment, but what I have rolling around in my head is:

  • An interview with Jean Luc over at Sombresprojects (the French publishers of Mournblade).
  • An old adventure Stormbringer 5th edition adventure I’ve toyed with for years
  • More detail in the catalogue area (not to mention rebuilding the wiki!)

As to when these will eventuate, I’m not so sure, but never fear SB is never too far from my mind…

– Stormbringer!
