Interview with Charles Green

One of the few authors to work on both Chaosium’s Stormbringer, as well as contributing to the later Elric of Melnibone series.

Charles not only wrote the two Young Kingdoms’ monographs Gods of Law in the Young Kingdoms and  Chaos Cults of the Young Kingdoms (both of which we proudly have reproduced on this site), but also Mongoose Publishing’s Bright Shadows setting book (which explores the far reaching influence of the Melnibonéan people and their rulers).

Interview with Richard Watts

Few authors or line developers have done as much to define an future of a roleplaying game as Richard Watts. With the late Lynn Willis as a steadying hand, Richard re-imagined the Stormbringer ruleset into ELRIC!, the edition we all love today. While he was never able to complete his journey, even today his influence on the game and setting continues.

Note, this interview was originally prepared for an Eternal Champion fanzine that was never published, and is presented here in full.

Herald of Doom: The Stormbringer Fanzine

First published in 1994, the Herald of Doom was a short lived Stormbringer/Elric! fanzine that saw contributions from many of the games leading authors. Edited and published by Malcolm Wolter, this professional looking magazine broke ground in both presentation and content. Contributors included Mark Morrison (renowned Call of Cthulhu author), Richard Watts (Line Developer of the ELRIC! edition and regular contributor here at Stormbringer!) and Lawrence Whitaker (who is one of the key writers for Mongoose Publishing’s Eternal Champion line).

It is hoped that additional issues of Herald of Doom will be released over the coming year.

Please note, this is a scanned copy of the original issue, and at the editors request has limited accessibility. It is a pleasure for Stormbringer! to be able to host this fantastic magazine and everything it represented to the game line.

Gaming in the Multiverse

While there is no ‘one true way’ to run a campaign or adventure set in the worlds of the Eternal Champions, each Stormbringer Game Master brings his or her own experience and advice to the table. Collected here are articles and suggestions on bringing the multiverse to life.

    Creating a Young Kingdoms Campaign

Creating a Stormbringer campaign can be a complex task, assuming that the Game Master is, like Michael Moorcock, attempting to tell a long and involved story with its own set of heroes, villains and memorable occurrences. The best such campaigns are planned from the beginning, but it is also possible to begin without a grand narrative envisioned from the start, instead starting with a simple idea for perhaps one or two short, self-contained adventures and embellishing the plot as you go. This, after all, was how Moorcock’s own epics grew.
