While the world of Elric and the Young Kingdoms have been the focus for the majority of the games based in the Multiverse, both Chaosium and Mongoose Publishing explored yet other aspects of the Eternal Champion.
Released in 1986, Chaosium’s Hawkmoon looked to build on the Stormbringer ruleset, allowing players to act out adventures in the Tragic Millennium. Only one additional supplement, The Shattered Isle, was released in this initial run. Twenty Years later, a new updated edition was published as a Monograph (which was originally drafted to be released by Darcsyde Productions).

The Eternal Champion is a mystical hero who lives upon all planes of existence, in all ages and times. Whenever the greatest need arises, the Eternal Champion awakens to ensure mankind’s survival. His names are many: Elric, Corum, Erekose, Urlik, Hawkmoon, and a multitude of others. Into the thick of the fray he strides, heroic companions at his side.
Dorian Hawkmoon, Duke of Koln, is an incarnation of the Eternal Champion and the sworn enemy of the foul Granbretan empire. His homeland was ravaged, his people were murdered, and the twisted scientists of Granbretan sought to enslave Duke Dorian’s mind – thus the Jewel in the Skull.
Hawkmoon is an easily-played game of fantasy roleplaying, part of the Eternal Champion line of roleplaying games available from Chaosium. The game players create imaginary characters who adventure together through a vision of Earth as it might be, where magic is real and heroes exist…
This box contains everything you need to create and play such adventures.

THE SHATTERED ISLE is a supplement for the Eternal Champion series of roleplaying games. This series, currently consisting of the games Stormbringer and Hawkmoon, is based on the fantasy novels written by noted author Michael Moorcock. This book contains two sections: Additions and Scenarios.
ADDITIONS: contains new rules which are later used in the Scenarios. Included here are guidelines for vehicular and aerial combat and exotic and powerful weapons found in the New Fenian armory, more than 50 Beast Orders from the isle of Granbretan, and a glimpse into the daily routine of Oshol Nariva – a typical member of the Order of the Boar.
SCENARIOS: contains numerous adventures set on Tragic Millennium Earth. An extensive section titled Getting Here presents to the gamemaster capsulized methods for getting the adventurers involved with the SHATTERED ISLE scenarios, including a variety of options for both Young Kingdoms and Tragic Millennium Earth adventurers.
Any adventurer created for an Eternal Champion game will function without flaw in any scenario in the series. The strength of Law or Chaos on a plane may affect a character’s magical ability (demons take note!).

This Chaosium Monograph work is a setting book for adventuring in Michael Moorcock’s Hawkmoon. It is neither a game in its own right nor a sourcebook in the traditional manner. Instead, this work is a distillation of a much larger, more complete sourcebook that will, we hope, see physical print at some time in the future [It didn’t]. The monograph series from Chaosium allows us to get at least the core of the Hawkmoon sourcebook into print, in a way that (we hope) satisfies most people. But for that to happen, we’ve had to make compromises – and we’d therefore ask of you to bear with us, and work with us by filling in the rules mechanics and system-specific gaps in a way that suits your players and your campaign style. The tools to do this already exist – in Chaosium’s Stormbringer 5th Edition and the Basic Roleplaying Players’ Book. Applying the mechanics from either or both of these superb resources should not be difficult for most Gamemasters.
In 2007, shortly after the publication of Elric of Melniboné, Mongoose Publishing looked to expand the realms of the Eternal Champion into the popular Hawkmoon setting. Written by Gareth Hanrahan, with contributions by Lawrence Whitaker and Bryan Steele, this game of the Tragic Millennium also utilised the Runequest ruleset, although unlike its ‘stable mate’ never saw an updated Runequest II/Legend edition.

Centuries after the Tragic Millennium, when the older order of Earth was washed away in fire and poison, Europe has been reduced to a land of squabbling princedoms, of monster-haunted wormwoods and empty, ruined cities. From the bleak and terrible island of Granbretan, the Dark Empire plots to conquer all the world. Their beast-masked legions, armed with flying ornithopters and sorcerous flame-lances, march on across the Silver Bridge to put all of France to the sword. The Madness of Granbretan will consume all the universe if not checked.
There are other powerrs in this strange world – relics of ancient sorcery, creatures bred of the chaos of the Tragic Millennium, mysteries beyond comprehension. The most mysterious of these powers is the Runestaff, which legend holds controls all fate. Those who swear by the Runestaff are enmeshed in destiny and their oaths will sweep them to their doom. Sometimes, the Runestaff chooses champions, manipulating events to put them where they must be to server its cryptic purpose.
The clash of powers is coming. Those few chosen by destiny will be pitted against the infinite evil of Granbretan.
Create your character. Choose your weapon. Accept your destiny.

For this was the great power of the Lords of the Dark Empire, that they valued nothing on all the Earth, no human quality, nothing within or without themselves. The spreading of conquest and desolation, of terror and torment, was their staple entertainment, a means of employing their hours until their spans of life were ended. For them, warfare was merely the most satisfying way of easing their ennui.
The Dark Empire of Granbretan reaches out to conquer the world! Within his life-sustaining Throne Globe, the immortal King-Emperor Huon raises a withered hand and a million beast-masked warriors charge across the Silver Bridge. They desire to conquer the world, to enslave all humanity so that the mad Granbretanians can indulge in their twisted lusts or depraved hatreds. No army in Europe can stand against the flame-lances and foul sorceries of the Dark Empire. No force in all the world can staunch the wounds they inflict – save for the eldritch influence of the Runestaff!
War is coming. Where will you make your stand against the Dark Empire?
This 128-page book details all the Byzantine depravities of glorious Granbretan. From its decadent nobility to its twisted history and infamous populace, Granbretan is the essential handbook to adventuring in this dark land. Rounding out this Hawkmoon supplement is a brand new adventure, designed to plunge adventurers head-first into the nightmare – Hunters of Granbretan!

Dorian Hawkmoon, Duke of Köln, has recently passed over the Silver Bridge into Europe on his long journey to Persia as part of his reluctant mission from the King-Emperor.
Shortly after his passing, another adventure from Granbretan follows, entering the hive of wretchedness that is the city of Karlye.
This man, fleeing from the bull-masked Tauran Lords, carries with him a unique sword and gauntlet that he is determined will never fall into the hands of his former captors. Wounded, poisoned and exhausted – the man finally succumbs, leaving the ancient artefacts in the hands of a passing group of adventures.
It is not long before these adventurers find themselves in a deadly game of cat and mouse, hunted for the artefacts they have sworn to protect and pursued by the vicious Order of the Bull, under the command of the dastardly Rafe Thenblade, a noble of the House of Taurus itself!
Between 2003 and 2011 Mongoose Publishing produced Signs & Portents magazine, a monthly periodical that supported the company’s various miniature and roleplaying game lines. During the reasonably short run, Elric of Melniboné (both 1st and 2nd Editions) had a number of articles, adventures and support material appear in this ‘zines pages.

Description – Scenario
Author – Richard Ford
Page Count – 10 pages
Part one of a scenario for Hawkmoon the Roleplaying Game, by Richard Ford.
The Ichthus of Life is for 3-5 players of between Seasoned and Veteran ability. The story centres around the discovery of a sorcerous object that has the ability to heal, and sometimes restore the dead to life. The players will find themselves in possession of this item, and they are soon the target of those who desire it for their own dire ends. The scenario should be set around the time Granbretan has first invaded Europe and begun its suppression of France. The Dark Empire has encroached on French soil but has not yet invaded the Kamarg. This way the players have a ready-made enemy, just waiting to scupper their every plan. However, the scenario can easily be adjusted to fit into any time period with a minimum of fuss.

Article Title – An Introduction to Castle Brass
Description – Supplement/Teaser
Author – Lawrence Whitaker
Page Count – 1 pages
The Camargue clearly stirred something in Michael Moorcock, because he chose this strange, eerie countryside as the location for a great deal of the action for the Hawkmoon saga. The city of Aigues Mortes became a focal point and many of the Camargue’s traditions, such as its guardians, its horses, its flamingos and its graceful bullfights, found themselves undergoing a suitably Moorcockian twist but reaching the Hawkmoon stories largely intact.
The aim of this book, Castle Brass, is to do much of the same but also to broaden the stage. The book takes its cues from both the contemporary Camargue and the Kamarg of Moorcock’s stories and expands upon both. Here we learn more of what lies within the defensive ring of death-dealing turrets Count Brass established. Intrigues, secrets and strangeness abound but should still be recognisable to anyone who has ever visited the place.

In this supplement to the acclaimed roleplaying game Stormbringer you can adventure in a heroic fantasy setting based on the World of the Five Planes created by the master of fantasy, Michael Moorcock. You will confront the most bizarre monsters and foil the deadliest plots on this and other planes of the Multiverse as you battle to free yourself and your world from the machinations of the gods.
Tentacled Whisperer
As someone who played stormbringer from launch and who on returning to gaming has collected pretty much every version including EoM, EoM2, hawkmoon, corum etc the corum supplement is imo the best of all the published games. It strikes just the right balance between rules and setting. I absolutely love it.
